Off the south-eastern coast of India are the gorgeous Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This group of islands boasts the charm of the sea, verdant landscape, and many adventure activities. However, what if you do not want to do any beach-related water sports activities! Here are ten things to do beyond the beach on your next Andaman and Nicobar Islands trip.

1. Exploring limestone caves

Baratang is blessed with limestone caves that are a treat to explore. Make sure to click lots of photographs. Additionally, the boat ride to the cave offers brilliant views of mangroves on either side.

2. Nature walks in a rubber plantation

Go for a slow and relaxing walk through the Mongluton rubber plantation in Wandoor. Not only will you enjoy the scenery but also learn from the guide about how raw rubber is converted to hard sheets.  Delightful spices such as cinnamon, clove, betel, and pepper are grown here.

3. Trekking trails

This route takes you from Mt. Harriett, the third-highest peak in the archipelago, to Madhuban. On the way, you will pass Kaala Patthar. You will be treated to a beautiful landscape as you trek your way through several forests, which comprise various types of flora and fauna.

4. Bird watching

Chidiya Tapu is a great place for bird and nature lovers. Come here to spot various avian species like parakeets, sea eagles, emerald doves, and others.

5. Visit Cellular Jail

Located in Port Blair, the poignant Cellular Jail is one of the major Andaman and Nicobar Island’s destinations. Earlier named ‘Kaala Paani Jail,’ it was used by the British to house political prisoners. Its light and sound show narrates the story of the prisoners using the late veteran actor Om Puri’s voice as that of a Peepal tree.

6. Go on a museum trail

Port Blair has a rich collection of museums that you must explore. These include the Anthropological Museum, the Samudrika Marine Museum, and the Forest Museum at Chatham Island.

7. Binge on local delicacies

If you love street food, then make sure to indulge when you visit Port Blair. There are many restaurants serving lip-smacking Bengali, South Indian, and street-style cuisine. It doesn’t matter what is the Andaman and Nicobar Island’s best time to visit, the food is always great!

8. Shop till you drop

Head to Sagarika Emporium, a government-approved shop that sells local arts and crafts at affordable rates. Buy souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones from here.

9. Head to the first British settlement

Learn about the British settlement on Ross Island. It’s a totally different way of life here, marked by British vestiges. At this place, you will come across a church, bakery, and get the chance to encounter deer and peacocks!

10. Jog away at the park

Head to Port Blair’s Jogger’s Park for a refreshing run or walk. Here you will be treated to views of the airport’s runway!
